Local Government Yorkshire & Humber

Local Government Yorkshire and Humber (LGYH) is the regional partnership of local authorities, which enables them to work together and collaborate on issues of common purpose. It is the regional democratic voice for Yorkshire and Humber.

Through its members, it provides a regional strategic vision for local government in the region. Through the Leaders and Chief Executives, it provides political and managerial local government leadership in Yorkshire and Humber.

To help it achieve this, it:

• Brings together local authorities within the region to discuss/debate/share learning on key issues affecting local government.
• Provides a forum for the development of regional strategic responses to key issues affecting local government.
• Contributes to and influences Government on the future of local government
• Supports councils, police and fire services to improve how they deliver services.
• Supports the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (YoHr Space).
• Supports local authorities to improve as employers.
• LGYH Networks, Task Groups, Boards and Panels

LGYH undertakes much of its work through Networks, Task Groups, Boards and Panels consisting of local authority members, officers and relevant partners. These are formed on an ad hoc basis as business demands dictate.
